The Awards recognize people from the entire Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain and Al Gharbia. They also recognize citizens doing good deeds for Abu Dhabi who live overseas.
The misconception
The Awards only recognize people from the city of Abu Dhabi.
The reality
The misconception
The Awards are biased towards Arabs.
The reality
Abu Dhabi Award recipients are chosen based on the type of deeds they have done for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, regardless of nationality. There have been a number of non-Arab winners in previous years.
The misconception
The Awards are only open to companies, VIPs and privileged individuals.
The reality
Not at all! The Awards are open to all individuals residing in, or doing work for the betterment of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The misconception
Award recipients are chosen based on how many nominations they receive.
The reality
Wrong! It takes just one nomination to be considered for an Award. Recipients are selected on the basis of their actions not on the basis of how many nominations they have received.
The misconception
The nomination process is confusing.
The reality
The nomination process is simple - the website (www.abudhabiawards.ae), call center and our team at the manned nomination booths will guide you through the nomination process.
The misconception
I live too far away to nominate and the forms are only available at nomination booths.
The reality
You can nominate online through www.abudhabiawards.ae
The misconception
Children are not allowed to nominate.
The reality
People of all ages can nominate. Every year we visit schools across the Emirate to encourage nominations – in fact, children can be the greatest participants!
The misconception
My nomination holds no value.
The reality
Recipients are ultimately chosen by a panel of esteemed judges but one nomination drawn from the general public is all it takes to be considered.
The misconception
I can only nominate someone who has done something really big or important.
The reality
Any deed, big or small, that benefits the community for Abu Dhabi in some way is worthy of a nomination. It’s easier than you think to make a difference in someone’s life.
The misconception
There is nothing in it for me.
The reality
Nominating is an act of goodness in itself. Nominating someone who has made a contribution to the Emirate also means that you are making your own contribution in recognizing them.
